We can all agree that getting a quality education is a key step towards getting a great job. But we can all also agree that the job market is very competitive, and which degree you get is more important than ever. Does a business degree offer you the education and skills you need to be a competitive applicant? Certainly.
The College of Business Administration prepares students for the workforce with a great education from seasoned faculty and provides the soft skills they need to succeed. Business degrees are in high demand across all industries. According to Yahoo Finance, business degrees are 3 of the top 5 “hot” degrees: Finance ranked #1, and degrees in Marketing and Accounting nabbed the #3 and #4 spot respectively. John Anderson, the Internship Director at UIC’s Business Career Center, agreed with the article, stating “a degree from an undergraduate business college provides versatility when it comes to occupational readiness and value.”
All six majors in the College of Business Administration require courses across the foundational areas of business: accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics, and information and decision sciences. And John Anderson believes that as a result, “students graduate being conversant in all aspects of business operations. This is a distinct advantage employment-wise over, for instance, liberal arts economics or computer science majors….an accounting major can be expected to know something about its firm’s marketing and IT challenges.”
Not surprisingly, business degrees were also featured on Yahoo Finance’s list of majors with the most pre-graduation job offers: “61.2 percent of seniors majoring in accounting reporting that they received at least one job offer by graduation.”
The College of Business Administration understands that business degrees are in high demand, and we prepare our students well to successfully land a job with both a world-class education and the services of the Business Career Center.
Simply put, UIC Business transforms your potential into career success. And that’s the real truth.
