UIC Liautaud Students Raise $2700+ for Chicago Non-Profit

The MBA Association of UIC Liautaud Graduate School of Business hosted the second annual Moving Business to Act Benefit Social on Friday, March 8th. The event was organized to raise funds and create awareness for The Night Ministry, a non-profit dedicated to offering housing, health care and human connection to members of the Chicago community struggling with poverty and homelessness. The event also focused at creating a platform for graduate students of business and other disciplines to network and share experiences with each other.

The festive and philanthropic evening, held at the plush Estate Ultra Bar, raised $2,700 through ticket sales and corporate donations. The students also collected over $800 in prizes that were given away all evening. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Night Ministry, helping to enhance their programs to aid poverty. UIC Liautaud students and the MBA Association will benefit from an introduction into the Chicago community for service and an evening of networking with other young professionals.

The MBA Association has worked closely with The Night Ministry this year on multiple projects. From volunteering to cook at an overnight shelter as part of ‘The Crib’ initiative to providing consulting services for IT security as part of MBAA’s InKind initiative. These events have provided a vehicle for students to take a role in the community and an opportunity to develop leadership, communication and organizational skills.
