What do you get when you combine incoming graduate business students, current Liautaud student ambassadors, faculty members and Greek food? The final UIC Liautaud new student networking event of the summer, of course!
Every year, we host several new student networking events to encourage our incoming Liautaud students to mingle and get to know current Liautaud students, faculty and staff members. Last night, our final event of the summer took place at the Parthenon Restaurant in Chicago’s Greek Town neighborhood (which is located just steps away from the UIC East campus).
New Liautaud students from the MBA, MIS and MSA programs joined us for an evening of introductions, networking and great food. Professors Michael Kirschenheiter (Accounting) and Maija Renko (Entrepreneurship) spoke with students about their academic goals and the unique course offerings of UIC Liautaud, while Assistant Dean Mary Clark got to know students’ backgrounds and professional aspirations. Caroline LaTorre, Director of Recruitment and Enrollment, reminisced with students about their journey as applicants and Dawn Birkland and James Brown (Student Services/Advising team) answered questions about registration and reminded students to attend the upcoming New Student Orientation. All throughout the dinner, our current student ambassadors engaged our new students by telling them about the Liautaud student experience and answering questions they had about starting in our various graduate programs.
Overall, last night’s event was a success, and we are very excited to welcome our new students to UIC Liautaud. Thank you to all who attended!
