UIC Business Welcomes Rosio Diaz

UIC Business welcomes our new academic adviser, Rosio Diaz. Rosio is excited to provide her insight as she helps students achieve their academic goals. Rosio is a Chicago native and UIC alumna part of the class of 2013. We sat down with Rosio for a chat about her background and what led her to UIC Business:

Do you have any favorite Chicago activities or places?

I love walking down Michigan Avenue during Christmas time and seeing all the lit-up trees and decorations. I’m also a big fan of all the free events that Chicago has to offer during the summertime. One of my favorites is a movie in the park on Tuesday evenings at Pritzker Pavilion.

What are your favorite Chicago restaurants?

My favorite Chicago restaurant is Tango Sur. It is an Argentinian steakhouse that is BYOB and serves big portions! El Filet is my go-to on their menu. Yum!

(and maybe more importantly) what is your favorite Chicago pizza? GIORDANOS!

What is your favorite Netflix show?

I don’t have one single favorite show, but some of my favorites are Parks and Recreation, The Office, and Narcos.

What led you to UIC?

I truly enjoyed my time as a student here at UIC, and so I was excited to apply to my current position. My four years of experience working in higher education taught me that I truly enjoy working in this field and helping students reach their academic goals. Now I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do this here at my alma mater!

What are you most excited to do in your new role?

I am excited about guiding students through their graduate degrees and eventually seeing students who I’ve helped from the beginning walk across the stage at commencement! I believe that my role is to be a helping hand to students who may need my support, and so I will strive to do my best and to always continue learning in order to better help my students.

I am extremely excited to be here and I am so appreciative of the warm welcome I have received from my team! I enjoy staying active, traveling to new places and spending time with my family.

If you could give one piece of advice to all UIC Business students, what would it be?

”Tu puedes.” These were the words of encouragement that my mom always said to me throughout my years in college. This translates to “you can.” Two very short and simple words, yet they kept me going and reminded me that I was capable. If something is important to you, then you will strive to find a way and accomplish whatever that may be. ¡Tu puedes!

Thank you to Rosio for her thoughtful responses. We are excited to have her on board as we work towards providing UIC Business students with the best experience possible. Schedule an appointment with Rosio or email her at rsdiaz@uic.edu
