What brought you to UIC?
I actually came here for the GPPA Pharmacy program. They mandate that you get a bachelor’s degree, in any field, as long as you complete their prerequisites. Most people go for chemistry or biology, but I figured a bachelor’s degree in business, especially marketing would be more practical in the long run. It let me widen my horizons, so I didn’t have to stick with just the sciences or just business.
How are you involved at UIC?
I am in a sorority on campus, Chi Sigma Omega. We do a lot of community service and fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House, Chicago Canine Rescue, and MS Society. I’m the Academic Adviser so I try to keep everyone on top of their grades. I am also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Beta Gamma Sigma, and the Honors College. I also work at the Liautaud Graduate School of Business, and that takes up a lot of my time!
What do you aspire to be?
I aspire to be happy and successful. I know that’s not the typical answer, but I don’t know where my future will take me, or what career path I’m going to follow. I may be a pharmacist for the rest of my life, or I may just stick with some marketing corporation, or maybe I’ll even combine them. I think I’d enjoy any of those, so why limit myself to one specific position? I’m just going with the flow, working hard, and taking opportunities as they’re presented to me.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy Modern Family, discovering new music, and long walks on the beach. (Which, of course, is only in my dreams, because this winter is never-ending.)
