RaDEant Technologies represented UIC at the Georgia Bowl business plan competition in Atlanta on Feb 1-2, where they advanced to the finals and placed 4th overall ahead of teams from University of Texas, Johns Hopkins, Georgia State, and University of Manitoba.  RaDEant is a startup company created in the CBA’s Technology Ventures Program by MBA students Kristen Perhach, Alex Duchak and Tony Mammana-Lupo. Their company was created to develop and commercialize coatings that prevent fouling of industrial equipment from the buildup of mineral deposits.  Their platform technology, licensed from Oak Ridge National Laboratories, will reduce equipment failure, maintenance costs and energy consumption in numerous industries.  In addition, their product is safe and will eliminate the need for toxic and caustic anti-fouling chemicals. The team won first place and most sustainable business awards in UIC’s Concept2Venture business plan competition in December.
