This week, students from the UIC MBA Association (MBAA) visited The Night Ministry’s overnight youth shelter, The Crib. The shelter provides space for young people ages 18-24 to get a hot meal, sleep, do yoga, dance, rest, and be safe. The Crib is an important addition to Chicago’s efforts to care for youth who are on the streets, because there are only about 230 other shelter beds for youth in Chicago, while an estimated 2,000 young people experience homelessness every night.
Six students volunteered last week to prepare lasagna, garlic bread, salad and cookies for the evening. The meal was served to over 20 young people staying at The Crib. This service event gave the entire team a chance to contribute positively to the community and the underprivileged in Chicago. The volunteer team comprised of Ann Qian, Danni Zheng, Nilay Shah, Chao Yu Yang, Keynes Chiu, and Chiranjiv Mukerji.
As part of our continuous effort to give back to the community, The MBA Association is pleased to announce our second Annual Moving Business to Act fundraiser social in support of The Night Ministry. This year’s event will take place next Friday, March 8, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Estate Ultra Bar, 1177 North Elston in Chicago. Our aim is to raise donation funds for The Night Ministry in support of the services and programs that help those in need in Chicago- all while netwo.
