This fall’s Deloitte info session began with all students professionally dressed up in business attire eager to learn about the company. The event was open only to the members of INFORMS.
There were four representatives Mike Brizendine, Fred Gibbons, Krishna Thilak from the Analytical and Forensic departments (AFT), and Javier Magallanes from the HR department. The presentation started with a short introduction of the representatives, followed by an overview about Deloitte. AFT comes under the Financial Advisory services section of Deloitte.
Fred explained how AFT deals with collecting and analyzing vast data to help their client firms in corporate litigations and commercial investigations. Their services encompass both discovery services (data discovery) and data analysis to aid these investigations. He also spoke about an example case which they had solved for a medical firm. While shedding some light on kind of work life of an employee in AFT, he spoke about how sometimes it involved a lot of traveling for cases.
The representatives also talked about Deloitte University which is a state of the art facility located in Westlake, Texas, and has been built with the objective of advancing employee skill set and helping them grow professionally. Javier spoke about the application process for the job opportunities at Deloitte. He mentioned that candidates must apply at both the Deloitte website and UIC careers website to be considered for positions.
The presentation was followed by a questionnaire session when all of the queries asked by students were patiently answered by the representatives. The overall session was very informative and it provided a great opportunity for everyone to interact with the representatives and learn more about AFT from them.
