GMARK Cooks Up More Than a Delicious Meal at Lincoln Park Community Shelter

Thank you to Elizabeth Holly, GMARK VP, for contributing this post.

On Saturday in late April, members of the Graduate Marketing Association (GMARK) shopped and prepared a meal for the residents of the Lincoln Park Community Shelter. GMARK took this opportunity to gather our current (2012-13) and future (2013-14) executive leadership board members to volunteer together for the afternoon. This was an excellent way for the new board members to get to know each other in a casual, fun environment while serving the community in a positive way.

While we prepped lunch, we were able to discuss the many events executed over the past year and brainstorm on ideas for next year. We made a delicious penne pasta with chicken and summer vegetables, and added garlic bread, a salad and brownies to round off the meal. We were happy that the residents really enjoyed it!

Thank you to our wonderful volunteer group: Elizabeth Holly, Nilay Shah, Brittany Chibe, Rebecca Xie, Laila Nabhan, Vickie Thomeas, and Megan Silverstein.

The GMARK alumni are very excited to see what next year’s board has in store. Be sure to check out GMARK this coming fall, as the group is being led by some very awesome students! Congratulations to new GMARK leadership board members for 2013-2014:

  • Brittany Chibe- President
  • Megan Silverstein- VP
  • Flor Fernandez- Recruitment & Membership VP
  • Tarun Awasthi – Social & Service Events VP
