Faculty Appreciation Luncheon Demonstrates Positive Faculty-Student Relationships

There are many components to a UIC Liautaud student’s educational experience.  Whether they get involved in student organizations, do volunteer work in the UIC and Chicago community, and/or serve as a student ambassador to help share their student experience with others who are considering coming to our programs, we hope that all of our students find a way to make their time at UIC Liautaud meaningful beyond the classroom. That said, what our students learn in the classroom is arguably one of the most important things they will take away from their time as a student – and the ability to apply their knowledge in a real-world, professional setting is crucial.

Earlier this month, UIC Liautaud and CBA undergraduate students had the opportunity to vote for their favorite professors, and in so doing, share with us who has made a significant impact on their educational experience.  Many of our professors received numerous votes from students, but a few rose above and beyond by receiving the most votes within their area.  The winners are listed below:

Undergraduate Awards
Favorite Accounting Professor – Xiaoyan (Winnie) Wen
Favorite Entrepreneurship Professor – Antonio Giuliani
Favorite Finance Professor – Mary Brown
Favorite Information & Decision Sciences Professor – John Fyfe
Favorite Management Professor – Anne Magi
Favorite Marketing Professor – Peter Thompson

Graduate Awards
Favorite MBA Professor – Maija Renko
Favorite MIS Professor – Yann Tiesun Chang
Favorite MSA Professor – Yehia Salama

Undergraduate students presented the undergraduate faculty awards, while graduate students presented the graduate winners.

The UIC Liautaud Program Office staff also presented Professor Ranganathan Chandrasekaran with an award honoring him for his ongoing dedication to and career work with the MS-MIS students and his recent attainment of STEM designation for the UIC Liautaud MIS program.

The awards were presented at the annual UIC College of Business Administration Faculty Appreciation Luncheon. This event took place at Pompei Restaurant, where students, faculty, and staff were able to mingle and share a meal together.  Overall, the afternoon was filled with positive recognition, engaging conversations, and some great faculty-student interaction!
