Executive Club of Chicago Opportunity with UIC Liautaud

Thanks to UIC Liautaud, students were awarded a ticket to hear American businessman David Cote, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell (2002-2017), speak in the elegant Grand Ballroom at the Palmer House Hilton in March. The Executives Club of Chicago hosted this informative event, which gave students the opportunity to network with senior level executives and to learn about our changing global economy.

One of the takeaways from this program is that we must make critical adjustments to our economy in order to keep pace with the ever changing global economy, because it will move on with or without us. Mr. Cote drove home the point that the U.S. must strengthen its competitiveness in the Global Economy by using six key topics: debt reduction, energy policy, a focus on free trade and building a stronger relationship with China, addressing math and science education in the U.S., infrastructure development, and tort reform. An interesting topic that caught my eye was Mr. Cote’s idea about incentivizing educational programs in math and science.  The main point of this plan is to encourage people pursue careeers in technical fields, which are in demand today and will most likely grow in the future.

Students from the UIC Liautaud Graduate School of Business who attended this enlightening event were also provided a great opportunity. One of the best features about this event is that you have the chance to meet high level executives who would otherwise be out of your reach. If you do your homework and research the panel of attendees, you can go after a quick informational interview (most likely one question) with someone you admire.
