Event: The Affordable Care Act: Where’s it Going? How’s it Going?

Do you have health coverage? Have you heard about the Affordable Care Act?

You might already have health coverage through your parents or school but now there is another option: health coverage through the Affordable Care Act. To learn more about the act and health coverage visit http://www.hhs.gov.

The main goal of the act: “This Act puts individuals, families and small business owners in control of their health care. It reduces premium costs for millions of working families and small businesses by providing hundreds of billions of dollars in tax relief – the largest middle-class tax cut for health care in history. It also reduces what families will have to pay for health care by capping out-of-pocket expenses and requiring preventive care to be fully covered without any out-of-pocket expense. For Americans with insurance coverage who like what they have, they can keep it. Nothing in this act or anywhere in the bill forces anyone to change the insurance they have, period.” (www.hhs.gov)

The act urges everyone to have healthcare coverage, but how does this impact the economy? To learn more about the after-effects of the ACA and how it changes business in the future come to the discussion on April 9 in UIC Innovation Center.
