Doing Business in Brazil Summer 2011: Rio

Rio was one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. The best way to describe the city would be an urban area dropped into the middle of a jungle. UIC Liautaud students had the oppurtunity to stay at two different locations while visitng Rio. Our first hostel was located in Santa Teresa, which was located on one of the many hills in Rio. Everything around us seemed as though time had just stood still for decades and things had hardly changed. Other than small bars and restaurants that would pop up here and there as we explored, the area seemed pretty deserted at times. As you can see from this picture, you can see how crowded hills of Rio look.

We also stayed in a hostel that was located right next Ipanema beach. This also was a great experience because we were able to see another side of Rio that was totally different than the first. It was urbanized, with clean streets and hoards of people walking around. One must experience Rio in both settings to truly feel like they have experienced the city. Overall I had a great time in Rio and found it to be one of the most scenic and exoctic cities I have ever visited.
