Hello, everyone!
My name is Dawn Birkland and I am the Assistant Director of Student Services at the UIC Liautaud Graduate School of Business. Welcome to my blog!
This blog is intended to provide you with information, updates, and random musings from the Student Services side of the UIC Liautaud experience. Student Services encompasses:
- Academic Advising;
- Collaboration with faculty to promote our new and/or ongoing course initiatives, such as the Technology Ventures Program, Interdisciplinary Product Development course, or Social Value Creation course series;
- Current student events (think orientation, academic open houses, coffee & conversation, etc.);
- Student organizations;
- And a variety of other student-focused components of your UIC Liautaud MBA, MIS, MRE, or MSA degree.
Oh, and for those of you wondering about the name of my blog, “Business in the Front” – well, we are a business school, and the Student Services “front” is where you can find the most up-to-date and relevant information for your UIC Liautaud degree. However, the title of this blog also happens to be the first part of a phrase that ends with, “Party in the Back.” For those of you who appreciate mullets like I do, I hope you enjoy my little nod to the epic 80’s hairstyle. And for those of you who don’t – well, hopefully you can still enjoy this blog!
