ALPFA at UIC Wins Midwest Region Student Chapter of the Year Award at the 2024 ALPFA National Convention

ALPFA at UIC had the opportunity to take 26 of its members to the 2024 ALPFA National Convention in Las Vegas. The convention was a four-day experience where students and professionals from various ALPFA chapters across the country attended informative workshops, large networking events, and a career fair offering incredible opportunities. From having coffee chats with different professionals to participating in on-the-spot interviews for internships, our members were exposed to many new experiences and worked hard to make the most of the convention. The event also featured an awards night where different chapters and professionals were recognized for their hard work and dedication. I am proud to announce that the ALPFA at UIC chapter was awarded the Midwest Region Student Chapter of the Year Award.

“This summer, I attended my first ALPFA Convention, and it was an unforgettable experience. I had the chance to network with a variety of professionals and, most importantly, connect with people who share similar backgrounds and goals. I am grateful to everyone who made this experience so remarkable,” said Tony Emeterio, ALPFA at UIC member.

ALPFA at UIC faced a challenging school year filled with obstacles, but our strong work ethic, teamwork, and passion for our organization made the 2023-2024 school year one of the best for our chapter. Over the past year, ALPFA at UIC created and managed 33 corporate and social events for over 100 members, the highest number of members our chapter has ever had. The organization secured corporate sponsorships that not only facilitated many of our events, but also supported our members and provided them the opportunity to attend events like the ALPFA National Convention. Additionally, ALPFA at UIC established a marketing committee where members worked alongside our marketing director, Maggie Quezada, and other E-board directors to create posts for the organization and become more involved with ALPFA at UIC. All these accomplishments made us a very successful chapter and contributed to our recognition as the Midwest Region Student Chapter of the Year.

“This year’s ALPFA Convention was very insightful and motivating. I was able to connect with more employees across Wells Fargo, where I interned this summer and will be working full-time once I graduate. Luis Manuel Miranda shared how he navigated his career and emphasized the need for more Latino representation in executive roles, along with strategies to achieve this. His talk is one I took notes on and will reference in the future. Lastly, spending time with our student chapter members and meeting others created memories to cherish,” said Nube Aguilar, Director of Corporate Events, ALPFA at UIC.

This success would not have been possible without the 2023-2024 E-board’s commitment to the organization. Thank you for all the work you have done and continue to do to make our organization thrive and prosper every day. We would also like to thank our members for being a part of our organization and helping us achieve this great milestone. As an Alpfamilia, we will continue to make our community proud and strive for even greater accomplishments.
