AIDS Walk/Run with the MBAA and OFB

On Saturday, October 1, 2011 a team from UIC Liautaud joined UIC’s HIV/AIDS Community Clinic Network (UIC-HCCN) and other UIC students in participating in Chicago’s annual AIDS Walk/Run, held in Grant Park. Participants either walked or ran 5k or 10k, while raising money that goes directly to the UIC-HCCN’s seven area community clinics. The clinics provide essential treatment and prevention services to anyone in the Chicagoland area, regardless of ability to pay.

The day was slightly cool, but there was no rain. Organizations from all over the Chicago area joined in, and together raised $500,000 to go to area HIV and AIDS services. UIC’s team, with the help of the MBA Association and Out for Business (OFB), raised a total of over $12,500! At the same time, UIC Liautaud participants got to interact with other groups of students from around campus – from nursing students, to pharmacy grads, to undergraduates. Not only did the MBAA and OFB participants get out and represent UIC Liautaud, but they also got to see how big the university really expands – and got to know some other future alumni from other parts of the university!
