Fun Facts

Favorite Chicago Activities/ Places: I am a huge Chicago Bulls fan, and look forward to the basketball season starting every fall. I also really enjoy taking long walks around the city, exploring the wide array of experiences, architecture, and places that Chicago has to offer.

Favorite Chicago Restaurants: Amarit in Printer’s Row has my favorite Thai food in Chicago, and Parlor Pizza Bar in the West Loop is my favorite new Chicago restaurant. I’ve also recently discovered Cone Ice Cream in the West Loop and find myself there at least once a week!

Favorite Part of the Day: I am definitely a morning person, although I do love twilight in Chicago when I am out for a walk and am able to see the city in lights.

Hometown: Willowbrook, IL

Tell us a little about your personal/professional background?

I am a two-time UIC graduate, earning my B.S. in Marketing and my M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership. I was also a member of the UIC Honors College and served as a student worker in the Commuter Student Resource Center here at UIC. It was there that I discovered my passion for working in higher education and helping students succeed while on their higher education journey. I worked as a graduate assistant, and later as a program coordinator, for the Commuter Center. I then went on to work as an Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at the University of Illinois Alumni Association, and, later, in the same role at the UIC College of Medicine.

How did you end up working at UIC?

As a former student, and as someone who has worked at UIC for much of my professional career, I am constantly amazed by the caliber and type of student that UIC attracts – students that have so many important commitments outside of the classroom, yet still manage to thrive in their studies. I have wanted to work at UIC to get a chance to work with these students, and help them achieve their educational and life goals, and I am so excited to be doing just that in this new role.

What are you most excited to do as an Academic Adviser?

I am most excited about working directly with students and helping them to be successful while here at UIC. I am also so thrilled to be working for the UIC Business, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree and first got to experience UIC.

What critical information should students know about?

I would like students to know that I am always willing to help them and that they should not hesitate to come to me with any questions or concerns that they may have. Having been an undergraduate and graduate student at UIC, I am familiar with many of the trepidations that students may feel at some point during their program, and I am here to get their concerns addressed and their questions answered.
