What prompted you to return to school to achieve your master’s degree?

After working for Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd in a highly specialized domain, I found out that my career options were limited and I wanted to change my career path.

What was the most important factor for you in choosing the MIS program (or factors you considered)?

MIS combines the world of technology with the organization and the structure of business management. I chose MIS because I wanted to hone my IT skills as well as broaden my understanding on industry trends. I was looking to improve my managerial and analytical skills required for success in 21st century organizations. I was looking for courses similar to Project Management, Information Systems in Organizations and Entrepreneurial Consulting.

Why did you choose UIC Liautaud for your graduate study?

UIC Liautaud Graduate School of Business was at that time ranked one of the best and the coursework would expose me to areas where I could gain practical knowledge and experience. Also, the college is right in the heart of Chicago which opens up a lot of opportunities as far as internships and full-time jobs.

Which class/professor has been your favorite thus far and why?

UIC Liataud offers diverse courses which, to a great extent, enhanced my knowledge on business models and industry management strategies. My favorite course has been Information System Strategy and Policy (IDS 515). Having the opportunity to interact with clients to understand the nature of the existing process and then suggesting a model to change their strategies was an invaluable experience. I worked with a great team and had an opportunity to interact with members from different backgrounds.

What is your favorite aspect of the UIC campus and why?

My favorite aspect has been the presence of students from different cultures and backgrounds and very active student communities which helps you build your network and serves a gateway to the corporate world.

What advice would you provide to incoming UIC Liautaud students?

Build your network and come up with your own professional definition of success and don’t let anyone else define it for you.
