CEO of GiveForward Speaks To UIC Business Scholars

Sometimes in life, we tend to forget that there are millions of people in the world who are suffering from all sorts of medical conditions. But frankly, there is nothing more rewarding than helping someone save a life. Imagine if you could help a loved one with just a click of a button? CEO Desiree Vargas Wrigley, has allowed people to do just that. After launching her unique website, Wrigley has helped save thousands of lives.

Luckily, I had the distinct opportunity, along with my fellow group of Business Scholars, to listen to Wrigley speak about her journey in launching her business. Wrigley graduated from Yale University with her B.A. in Latin American studies and she spoke to us about her how she made her dreams come true.

Wrigley began by telling us that after she graduated from Yale, she always had this vision of starting a trustworthy platform where people could directly donate to those in need. She told herself that this is something she really wanted to do, and then one day, she woke up and heard a teeny little voice inside her head telling her to “Get Started.”

Wrigley told us that launching a new business was not an easy task, and she had to work extremely hard to get to where she is today. Wrigley worked long hours during the day planning her business, and at night, she would wait tables. When I asked Wrigley what kept her motivated to keep going during such hard times, she said, “It was those emails I received from people who thanked me for helping them raise money.”

Wrigley was extremely inspiring, and she told us that now, GiveForward is one of the best online fundraising websites where one can raise money to assist those in need. To this day, GiveForward has raised over $60 million towards medical expenses such as cancer treatments, transplants and surgeries.

After endless hours of hard work, determination, and passion, Wrigley’s vision ultimately became her reality. If Wrigley can make her dreams come true, you can too!
